# Claim: Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama decided to transfer a pristine island and agricultural land in Albania to a project promoted by Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.

Verdict: 70%
Model: Kimi K2.6
Checked on: 05/06/2026

## Verdict explanation

- Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has strongly supported and facilitated a luxury resort development project linked to Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, involving the island of Sazan and a nearby coastal area[^1][^2][^3][^4][^5].
- The island of Sazan is described as an uninhabited, abandoned communist-era military base located within a protected marine national park, not a "pristine" wilderness[^6][^2][^3].
- The coastal component involves the Narta Lagoon/Zvërnec area, which is a protected wildlife reserve and wetland landscape, not primarily "agricultural land," though it is part of a broader protected area with some local agricultural activity[^1][^6][^7][^2].
- Rama's government amended laws in 2024 to allow tourism development in protected areas and granted the project "strategic investor status," but the government claims the land is privately owned; there are competing claims about the legality of that privatization, and anti-corruption authorities are investigating[^8][^3][^5].
- The claim oversimplifies the government's role by saying Rama "decided to transfer" the land, when in fact the government enabled the project through legal changes and approvals rather than a direct transfer of state land[^5][^8].
