# Claim: The United States and Iran have officially reached a peace agreement.

Verdict: 75%
Model: Kimi K2.6
Checked on: 15/06/2026

## Verdict explanation

**Reasoning:**

- On June 14, 2026, Iran's Supreme National Security Council announced it had finalized a memorandum of understanding for a cease-fire deal with the United States, including an immediate end to military operations and the U.S. naval blockade[^1].
- Some sources characterize the arrangement as a "peace deal" with an "immediate and permanent" end to hostilities[^2].
- However, the agreement is described as a preliminary framework and memorandum of understanding, not a final comprehensive peace agreement, with a 60-day ceasefire period and further negotiations required on unresolved issues such as Iran's nuclear program[^3].
- A formal signing ceremony is scheduled for June 19, 2026, indicating the agreement has been announced but not yet formally executed[^4].
- While the parties have agreed to end hostilities, describing the arrangement as a formally concluded "peace agreement" oversimplifies its preliminary nature and the pending negotiations.
