• The figure is a reporting odds ratio derived from VAERS, a passive, unverified surveillance system. It reflects the frequency of reports relative to other events, not true epidemiological risk or incidence, and cannot establish causation³⁴.
• Major health authorities have found no causal link. The CDC and PolitiFact have stated that VAERS showed no reports of prion-related disease after COVID-19 vaccination and that there is “no evidence to date” of a causative association⁴. A CDC prion-disease expert similarly says there is “no biological plausibility” for such a link⁵.
• The CJD Foundation notes there is “no good evidence” that COVID-19 vaccines cause CJD or increase case numbers, and no sound theoretical reason to expect one⁶.
• The original paper that raised the prion-disease hypothesis (Classen, 2021) was independently debunked by AFP and USA Today as speculative and lacking proof⁷⁴.
• A WHO VigiBase comparative pharmacovigilance study of mRNA COVID-19 and influenza vaccines did not identify prion disease as a safety signal⁸.
