Kylian Mbappe (France) was the top goalscorer in the Champions League in 2026 with 13 goals — 100% Model: Kimi K2.5 · Checked on: 07/04/2026 · Detail: /claim/175bh2fckJBO3IAmTMIB Based on my research, here is my analysis of the claim: **Reasoning:** - Kylian Mbappé is indeed French and represents France internationally[^1] - Multiple sources confirm that Kylian Mbappé leads the 2025-26 Champions League goalscoring charts with exactly 13 goals for Real Madrid as of April 2026[^2][^1][^4][^3] - He is ahead of the next closest competitors Anthony Gordon (Newcastle United) and Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), who both have 10 goals[^1][^4] - UEFA's official statistics page shows Mbappé ranked first with 13 goals in 9 matches played[^2] - ESPN confirms he "tops the Champions League goalscoring charts this season after the round of 16" with 13 goals[^1] **Overall validity**: 100% [^1]: [Who are top scorers in the Champions League 2025/26 ... - ESPN](https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/47764875/champions-league-top-scorers-ronaldo-mbappe-kane-stats) [^2]: [Player Goals Stats | UEFA Champions League 2025/26](https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/statistics/players/goals/) [^4]: [UEFA Champions League Scoring Stats, 2025-26 Season - ESPN](https://www.espn.com/soccer/stats/_/league/UEFA.CHAMPIONS/view/scoring) [^3]: [Table of top scorers Champions League 2026 - BeSoccer EN](https://www.besoccer.com/competition/rankings/champions_league/2026/top-scorers) ### 2. Raphinha (Brazil) was the top goalscorer in the Champions League in 2025 with 13 goals — 50% Model: Kimi K2.5 · Checked on: 07/04/2026 · Detail: /claim/q22hKKILHKsfZ3IOxq5G Based on my research, here is my analysis of the claim: **Reasoning:** - The claim states Raphinha (Brazil) was the sole top goalscorer in the Champions League in 2025 with 13 goals[^4][^1][^2]. - According to UEFA's official statistics and Wikipedia's records, the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League season (concluding in 2025) had **two players tied as top scorers with 13 goals each**: Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund) and Raphinha (Barcelona)[^2][^1][^4]. - Raphinha did score exactly 13 goals in 14 matches for Barcelona during the 2024-25 Champions League campaign[^1][^2]. - However, he shared the top scorer award (Golden Boot) with Guirassy, who also scored 13 goals in fewer minutes (1,084 vs Raphinha's 1,224), which is why Guirassy was awarded the official Golden Boot[^3]. - The claim implies Raphinha was the sole top scorer by using the singular "top goalscorer," which is inaccurate since there was a tie[^4][^1][^2]. **Overall validity: 50%** [^4]: [List of UEFA Champions League top scorers - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UEFA_Champions_League_top_scorers) [^1]: [Raphinha | Barcelona | UEFA Champions League 2025/26](https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/clubs/players/250112880--raphinha/) [^2]: [Who are top scorers in the Champions League 2025/26 ... - ESPN](https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/47764875/champions-league-top-scorers-ronaldo-mbappe-kane-stats) [^3]: [Champions League top scorer: Raphinha's 13 goals | Video](https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/video/0299-1de41802318e-f6249c73b6ab-1000--champions-league-top-scorer-raphinha-s-13-goals/) ### 3. Kylian Mbappe (France) was the top goalscorer in the Champions League in 2024 with 8 goals — 0% Model: Kimi K2.5 · Checked on: 07/04/2026 · Detail: /claim/liMarb48nAQfnQCHnt5j Based on my research, here is my analysis of the claim: **Reasoning:** - The claim states Mbappé was "the top goalscorer" (singular) in the 2024 Champions League with 8 goals[^3]. - For the 2023-24 season (which concluded in 2024), Kylian Mbappé scored 8 goals and was tied with Harry Kane for top scorer - he was not the sole top goalscorer[^3]. - For the 2024-25 season (ongoing), Mbappé has scored 7 goals in the Champions League, not 8[^1][^2]. - The current top scorers for 2024-25 are Serhou Guirassy and Raphinha with 13 goals each, followed by Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski with 11 goals[^2]. - Therefore, Mbappé was never the sole top goalscorer with exactly 8 goals - in 2023-24 he was tied with Kane at 8 goals, and in 2024-25 he has only 7 goals. **Overall validity: 0%** [^3]: [UEFA Champions League Scoring Stats, 2023-24 Season - ESPN](https://www.espn.com/soccer/stats/_/league/UEFA.CHAMPIONS/season/2023) [^1]: [Kylian Mbappé - Stats 24/25 | Transfermarkt - Transfer Market](https://www.transfermarkt.us/kylian-mbappe/leistungsdaten/spieler/342229/saison/2024) [^2]: [Champions League 2024/2025 » Statistics: Topscorer](https://www.worldfootball.net/competition/co19/uefa-champions-league/se77222/2024-2025/statistics-goals/) ### 4. Erling Haaland (Norway) was the top goalscorer in the Champions League in 2023 with 12 goals — 85% Model: Kimi K2.5 · Checked on: 07/04/2026 · Detail: /claim/ypNYm9rr20cfWoj4Jecj Based on my research, here is my analysis of the claim: **Reasoning:** - The claim states Erling Haaland was the top goalscorer in the Champions League "in 2023" with 12 goals[^7][^2][^3][^5]. - The 2022/23 Champions League season concluded in June 2023, and Haaland was indeed the top scorer with exactly 12 goals in 11 matches for Manchester City[^4][^3][^7][^2]. - According to official UEFA statistics, Haaland led the 2022/23 season with 12 goals, ahead of Mohamed Salah (8 goals) in second place[^7][^3]. - However, the phrasing "in 2023" is somewhat ambiguous. If referring to the 2022/23 season (which ended in June 2023), the claim is correct. But if referring to the 2023/24 season or calendar year 2023 alone, the top scorers were different[^6][^4]. - In the 2023/24 season, the top scorers were Kylian Mbappé and Harry Kane with 8 goals each, while Haaland scored 6 goals[^6]. - Haaland is Norwegian, which matches the claim's nationality specification[^1][^4]. **Overall validity: 85%** [^7]: [Champions League 2022/2023 » Statistics: Topscorer](https://www.worldfootball.net/competition/co19/uefa-champions-league/se45848/2022-2023/statistics-goals/) [^2]: [Erling Haaland in the Champions League: Records, stats, who he ...](https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/0268-11f9321e7599-fde3dd4a7bd0-1000--erling-haaland-in-the-champions-league-records-stats-who-h/) [^3]: [UEFA Champions League - List of goalscorers 22/23 - Transfer Market](https://www.transfermarkt.us/uefa-champions-league/torschuetzenliste/pokalwettbewerb/CL/saison_id/2022) [^5]: [Top goalscorers by season Stats | UEFA Champions League](https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/history/rankings/players/season_goals_scored/) [^4]: [Erling Haaland career statistics, goals, video highlights, Man City ...](https://www.nbcsports.com/soccer/news/erling-haaland-career-statistics-goals-manchester-city-norway-club-country-records) [^6]: [UEFA Champions League Scoring Stats, 2023-24 Season - ESPN](https://www.espn.com/soccer/stats/_/league/UEFA.CHAMPIONS/season/2023) [^1]: [Erling Haaland - Titles & achievements - Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.com/erling-haaland/erfolge/spieler/418560) ### 5. Karim Benzema (France) was the top goalscorer in the Champions League in 2022 with 15 goals — 85% Model: Kimi K2.5 · Checked on: 07/04/2026 · Detail: /claim/A90QoAe0xTXcnLmRjS1r Based on my research, here is my analysis of the claim: **Reasoning:** - Karim Benzema was indeed the top goalscorer in the UEFA Champions League for the 2021-22 season with 15 goals[^4][^2][^5][^3]. - The 2021-22 season ran from September 2021 to May 2022, concluding with the final on May 28, 2022[^5]. - Benzema scored 15 goals in 12 appearances for Real Madrid during this campaign, including a joint-record 10 goals in the knockout stage[^5][^3]. - The claim refers to "2022" which is slightly imprecise - the correct designation is the "2021-22 season" which concluded in May 2022[^2][^5]. - In the subsequent 2022-23 season (which spanned from 2022 into 2023), Erling Haaland was the top scorer with 12 goals, not Benzema[^1][^6]. **Overall validity: 85%** The core facts are correct: Karim Benzema (France) was the top goalscorer with 15 goals in the Champions League season that concluded in 2022. However, the claim's phrasing "in 2022" is ambiguous and technically imprecise - it should specify the "2021-22 season" to be fully accurate.
