> POLL: ICE has been abused by the Fake News Media at levels never seen before. They are Great Patriots who work hard, and do a fantastic job in a very hostile environment. Much of this hostility is caused by the Dumocrats and the Fake News. The concept I have had for quite some time - A strong feeling that the name of these Patriots, "ICE," should be changed to, "NICE," in that it will totally discombobulate Crooked, Dishonest, and Unpatriotic Reporters and Journalists. For them to say, "We went to a NICE Facility today," as opposed to "ICE" or, "NICE Agents have deported a Violent Drug Dealer," they won't be able to handle it, they will go totally crazy! All it means is adding an "N" ("National") to "ICE ("Immigration and Customs Enforcement") - A much more prestigious name. Everyone loves it, but I have been told by the legendary Tom Homan that the Agents do not love it as much as the other population. Who thinks that we should add an "N" to change the name of "ICE" to "NICE?"

## Post analysis

Verdict: 60% · Model: Kimi K2.6 · Checked on: 17/08/2026

The post accurately states that ICE stands for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and that adding an “N” would create the acronym NICE for National Immigration and Customs Enforcement[^1][^2]. The claim that Tom Homan told President Trump ICE agents do not support the renaming as much as the general public does is largely accurate[^3]. However, the post presents unverifiable subjective assertions as though they were established facts. The claim that ICE has faced unprecedented abuse from the “Fake News Media” is a subjective value judgment that lacks objective metrics and cannot be factually verified[^4]. Likewise, the assertion that Democrats and media outlets labeled “Fake News” cause much of the hostility toward ICE is an unverifiable causal claim that cannot be empirically tested or confirmed[^5]. The post also includes speculative predictions about journalists’ reactions that are not subject to factual verification. While the specific factual components supporting the renaming proposal are accurate or mostly accurate, the post wraps them in substantial unverifiable partisan rhetoric.

### 1. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been abused by the media, which are called “Fake News,” at unprecedented levels. — Unknown

Model: Kimi K2.6 · Checked on: 17/08/2026 · Detail: /claim/jxKUTYwJphwxUSZEkv1n

- The claim is a subjective value judgment about media coverage of ICE, using undefined terms like “abused” and “unprecedented levels.”
- No verified fact-check in the claims database directly evaluates this broad assertion.
- No quantitative analysis exists that can objectively measure “media abuse” or “unprecedented levels” of such coverage.
- DHS has published rebuttals to specific media stories it labels “fake news,” but those rebuttals do not confirm the sweeping, superlative claim that ICE faces unprecedented media abuse overall.
- Because the claim is rhetorical and lacks objective metrics, it cannot be assigned a defensible validity percentage.

### 2. Democrats and media outlets labeled as “Fake News” cause much of the hostility toward U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). — Unknown

Model: Kimi K2.6 · Checked on: 17/08/2026 · Detail: /claim/kquB2LRVV4PXX9vwVWRn

- No verified fact-check in the claims database directly addresses this causal claim about hostility toward ICE.
- Polling shows strong partisan differences in attitudes toward ICE, but this demonstrates correlation, not causation: Democrats overwhelmingly disapprove of ICE actions and Republicans largely approve, while independents have increasingly opposed ICE’s expanded operations [^1][^2].
- Research and polling indicate that opposition to ICE is closely tied to actual enforcement events, such as shootings, aggressive raids, and documented use of force, with awareness of these incidents directly increasing support for abolishing ICE [^3][^4].
- The phrase “media outlets labeled as ‘Fake News’” refers to a subjective political label rather than an objective media category, making the claim impossible to define or test empirically.
- While administration officials and partisan sources argue that false media narratives and Democratic rhetoric fuel hostility toward ICE [^5][^6], these are assertions rather than independent verification, and no rigorous study establishes that these specific actors are the primary causal drivers of public hostility.
- Without independent research disentangling the roles of partisan identity, media coverage of real events, and direct experiences from the claim that Democrats and media labeled “Fake News” cause “much of the hostility,” the causal claim cannot be factually verified.

### 5. Tom Homan said that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents dislike the proposed renaming of ICE to NICE more than the general public does. — 90%

Model: Kimi K2.6 · Checked on: 17/08/2026 · Detail: /claim/SxsoQsGvhdZCz29IfCRE

- President Trump posted on Truth Social that Tom Homan told him ICE agents “do not love it as much as the other population” when it comes to the proposed renaming of ICE to NICE[^1]. In the same post, Trump wrote that “everyone loves it,” making clear that “the other population” refers to the general public — meaning agents like the idea less than the public does.
- A separate report quotes Homan directly pushing back on the rebranding, stating, “I was an ICE agent. I know these ICE agents, and they simply didn’t want it. They’re proud of their name. They don’t think they need to caveat it with something called NICE”[^2], which corroborates that Homan communicated agents’ opposition to the proposal.
- Together, these sources support the claim that Homan conveyed agents’ relative dislike for the NICE renaming compared with the general public.
